When you're working from home, it's easy to be distracted -- there are so many things that are within reach that can pull you away for minutes, hours, maybe even days. It's easy to think: I'll put on a Netflix show real quick, and watch only one episode. Then that episode ends in a cliffhanger, and you think: well, the next one is autoplaying, so okay I'll watch one more but that's it. Then it keeps going. Before you know it, that one episode of 29 minutes has turned into a 3 or 4 hour binge fest, and you're thinking: wow, where did my day go? Did I actually get anything I wanted done?

I absolutely love the freedom that comes with being able to work on my own— no one is setting a schedule for me, or expecting me in at work at a certain time, or telling me I can’t take vacation whenever I want. Honestly it’s one of the best perks of the job.
However, as with many other things in life, there’s a downside to this kind of freedom: it comes with a lot of personal responsibility and accountability. That was a struggle for me early on in life, and one that I have worked on through the years. Thankfully now I have years of experience behind me. Hopefully I can help someone starting out now with accountability as a freelancer.
